The dispatch · Tuesday

Happy Tuesday, neighbor.

July 21 – 27, 2026

Summer’s hitting its stride, and this week the open air does the heavy lifting. Wednesday the Norwalk Public Library brings Read on the Green to the Town Green — books, blankets, and food trucks out on the grass. Then the weekend’s big one: Saturday the SoNo Saturday Market takes over Washington Street with 30-plus vendors, food, flowers, and live music. Around the edges: the free beach concert series, a dietitian-led grocery tour, a Saturday-morning walk, and a beloved record shop turning two. And The Pearl, our one ad slot, is open this week.

The Pearl is the one ad in The Oyster each week — a single, well-placed spot that lands with Norwalk neighbors who actually read to the end. Got an event, an opening, a shop, a service, or a cause worth knowing about? This is where it goes. Reply and tell us what you’ve got.

The lead · a night of books on the Green

The library spills onto the Green.

The featured pick · Wednesday, July 22 the Norwalk Public Library brings Read on the Green to the Norwalk Town Green, 5 to 8 PM — books, blankets, lawn chairs, and food trucks. Free, and made for families. (Rain date Thursday.)

Wed, July 22, 2026 · 5–8 PM · Norwalk Town Green

For one summer evening, the Norwalk Public Library packs up the quiet and moves the whole thing outdoors. Read on the Green turns the Town Green into an open-air reading room: bring a book, a blanket, or a lawn chair and settle in on the grass under the trees. There’s a table to swap titles if you want to trade, room for the kids to run, and food trucks parked nearby so dinner sorts itself out. It’s the kind of low-key, no-cost evening that downtown does best in July — part library program, part neighborhood picnic, part excuse to be outside while the light lasts. Come early, stake out a patch of shade, and stay for the golden hour. Rain pushes it one day, to Thursday, same time and place.

№ 02 · Sat, July 25 · Washington Street, SoNo · 11 AM–3 PM

SoNo Saturday Market

The weekend’s big one. On the last Saturday of the month, the SoNo Saturday Market fills Washington Street — the brick heart of South Norwalk — with 30-plus local vendors, fresh food, flowers, and handmade goods, plus live music through the afternoon. It’s the market’s biggest edition of the summer and doubles as the neighborhood’s front porch. Bring a tote and a little cash, and give yourself time to loop the block twice. Free to wander.

№ 03 · Mon, July 27 · Full Haus Records, 2 Brook St · 12–7 PM

Full Haus Records Turns Two

Close the week with a birthday for one of the good ones. Full Haus Records — the independent shop on Brook Street — marks two years with an all-day celebration: crate-digging, community, and the kind of afternoon that reminds you why a real record store still matters in a streaming world. Stop in, flip through the bins, and buy something with a sleeve. Two years in a tough business is worth showing up for.

The dredge · SoNo’s original vendors

Saturday’s market runs down Washington Street, which is fitting: South Norwalk grew up around the water, and the oyster was its cash crop. By the late 1800s Norwalk was one of the busiest oyster ports on the East Coast, its beds seeded and worked by a fleet of sail-powered sloops out on Long Island Sound — and Norwalk’s watermen were early adopters of the steam-powered oyster boat, which let them dredge deeper beds than sail ever could. So when you walk the SoNo market for peaches and cut flowers this weekend, you’re shopping a block that once moved oysters by the millions — the original local vendors, working the beds just offshore.

Your K-Cup Has Been Sitting in a Warehouse for Months

That grocery store pod? It was roasted long before it hit the shelf. Coffee starts losing flavor within weeks of roasting — which is why your morning cup tastes flat, no matter how nice your machine is.

Angelino's does it differently. A third-generation roaster in Los Angeles, they roast, grind, and seal every pod in-house for peak freshness, then ship it to your door within days of roasting. The difference is the first thing you'll notice: real aroma, real flavor, no bitterness.

Mix and match from 50+ specialty coffees, teas, and flavored blends — all Keurig®-compatible — and save more with every box you add, up to 34% off at 12+. Order once whenever you're running low, or subscribe for an extra 5% if that's easier. Entirely up to you.

New customers get 15% off their first order — applied automatically, no code needed.
